Facebook Faces Off Google + Gaming With New Interface

Only hours after Google + created a page for gaming on the new social platform, Facebook followed suit with similar features.

The Google + gaming page rendered status updates from games invisible to the rest of a Google Circle, thus reducing the spam-like clutter of unwanted updates that show up social newsfeeds. To match Google +, Facebook has enabled an exclusively game-related feed for when you're playing games on the site. You'll see game activity, scores and achievements in a ticker, as well as an intuitive way of finding and playing games that other Facebook friends are playing.

In case you want to change how people see your gaming activity on Facebook, you can change this in settings. And just like the rest of Facebook, clicking X on a story on the the new ticker will remove it.

Games like CityVille, Zoo World, Monster World, and Mystery Manor will introduce the bigger screen for better gameplay.

For games and other apps that you use a lot, a new bookmarking feature lets you save favorites on top of the list on your homepage. This can be changed by clicking on the menu next to the bookmark, which also lets you rearrange, remove, and edit settings from the same menu.

This move is part of Facebook's face-off with Google, which has recently become Facebook's biggest, and most competent adversary in the social network market. While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had promised a "series of launches" over the coming months while introducing the Skype video chat integration with Facebook Chat, Google recently wrote of a lot of third party applications going live on their social platform while announcing games on Google +.

The first bundle of games on Google + includes Bejeweled Blitz, Zynga Poker, and Dragon Age Legends. With over 10 million members in the first two weeks of it's launch, Google + is using Facebook's social gaming formula for the biggest face-off since Apple vs. Android. (MensXP.com)
