Forget the M&B novels; forget all the romantic comedies you have ever seen. Real romances outweigh them by a long mile.

romances.Whether discreet or larger-than-life, these are romances that
normal people like you and me have experienced.

My 'Sathiya' story
Kavita Verma
Raman and I will complete 8 years of blissful marriage on March 9, 2012.
Our story is quite long story as it is complicated. But I will try to summarize.
Although we know each other from childhood, as a couple we have been together for 10 years. When we were very young, we were neighbours; in fact, Raman and I lived just two houses away from each other. When we both were studying we never felt anything for each other. We were kids, friends, always fighting over some chilidish issue.
But when we grew up, our friendship deepened. We discussed more serious issues and future plans. We started to get to know and understand each other intimately. Inevitably, we fell in love. He proposed to me one fine day, and I accepted.
Everything was going well until our families come to know about us. When they came to know that I am seeing Raman, suddenly everything changed. Our families became sworn enemies, and stopped talking to each other. They forbade us to talk and meet each other.
We tried very hard (in vain) to convince them. But we both knew we were soulmates. After facing lots of ups and down, abusive language, threats and emotional torture, we got married on 9th March 2004 secretly in Hindu Maha Sabha Mandir. I could not tell my family that I was married because I had an unmarried elder sister.
We waited for 9 months; then on 16th Dec 2005 we disclosed our marriage to our respective parents and I went to Raman's house. It was not so easy even then. I have seen my parents crying. I had to stand against them in the police station.
But Raman's entire family supported us. They accepted us.
Finally, we had started our life together.
Now, we are happily married and the parents to a 5 year-old son. My family have also accepted us.
Although we are two totally different people, we still compliment each other. All I can say to people out there is, those who are destined to meet, will meet one day, no matter what hurdles come in the way.
