Manish Arora: To India, with love
After popular designers such as Marchesa, Etro and Vera Vang presenting their version of Indian styles and silhouettes in their recent catwalk collections, the country’s finest export Manish Arora also dedicated his spring 2013 line to India at the Paris Fashion Week. Arora’s sharp craftsmanship and superior designs were seen on the runway, with lots of prints, embellishments and dramatic accessories.
Showcasing a revamped version of the Indian silhouette, his collection of angrakha dresses, embroidered tunics, transparent c huridaars and motif tunics reflected the great heritage and culture of the country. Tailored suits, sculptured dresses and detailed blazers were the other highlights of his much sought after collection.
Giving a break to his exaggerated designs and over- thetop silhouettes, the designer encompassed geometric designs of tigers, panthers and antelopes merged with chainmail prints. “Luckily, this year I was very attracted towards jewellery. Is there a better place to draw inspiration?” said Arora. Yes, his show was all about the fancy headgears, statement jewellery pieces such as waist belts, oversized bangles, cut-out clutches and eye accessories standing out as much as his beautiful creations.
With a dash of gold and silver infused with soft pink, lilac, cream, blue and black, Manish Arora’s bejewelled collection was innovative, rich and thoughtful.
