When pictures of Taylor Swift popped up in our inbox this morning we were in awe! Forget the outfit, Taylor’s hair was twisted like a retro princess as she promoted her new perfume, Wonderstruck last night.
The sweetheart country singer sparkled in a silver dress and matching twinkly shoes at Sephora in California, but it was her hair that made us swoon! Parted at the side, twisted back and pinned at the nape, Taylor had taken her beauty inspiration from 30s vintage queens.
‘I love this look, it has a soft finish but a chic shape. Old-school hair is making a big comeback but with an individual twist,’ says Andy Smith, OSiS Ambassador and Artistic Director of John Carne Salon in Knightsbridge. ‘Loose, medium-sized curls and plenty of pins are the key to creating a loose but natural finish,’ says Andy.
So, after prepping hair with a styling spritz or cream and blow-drying smooth, part to the side and get your tongs at the ready.
Take small sections of hair, no bigger than one-two inches wide and twist away from the face using a medium-sized barrel tong. Do this along the crown to the middle of the head. Don’t touch the curls until they’ve cooled or you’ll spoil your work!
Gently pull back the curls with your fingers and secure with pins, this will help to gradually build shape and increase texture. With the rest of your hair at the back, wrap small sections around your hand, fold under and fix discreetly. Keep things loose and soft. Fix with a mist of soft hold hairspray like OSiS Glamour Queen which has added shine ingredients to create a glamorous look.
Taylor, eat your heart out!
