What to Expect at WWDC 2012

altApple will kickstart this year’s WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) event on Monday (11 th June, 2012)

and there are already a huge pile of rumors about what Apple might showcase at the event. From iOS 6 to iPhone 5 to Apple HD TV, the expectations are endless. So, we thought of summing up the popular rumors and speculations about the upcoming Apple event for you.

alt

High Probability

1. iOS 6

There are high chances of seeing the new version of iOS. We’ve already heard the rumors of Apple trying to integrate Facebook into iOS 6. There are also rumors of Apple’s planning to ditch Google Maps as well as rumors of updates in Siri.

2. Mountain Lion

We are expecting to find out the launch date of Mountain Lion at the event as it is already scheduled to launch in late summer this year.

3. Ivy Bridge Macs

News is there that Apple’s Mac range will get minor (or major) updates. Intel has recently released their Ivy Bridge chips and it seems that it is perfect for every Mac out there.

4. USB 3.0 in Macs

With the launch of Intel’s Ivy Bridge Chips, chances are there of seeing USB 3.0 in the entire Mac range.

5. (New) Macbook Pros

You all remember the Apple Macbook Pro line right? Rumor is that the Macbook pro will also undergo major changes. Apple is reportedly planning to remove the optical drives from them which might give you slimmer Macbook Pros with more battery backup.

Low Probability

1. iCloud Upgrade

Apple put in a lot of effort in developing iCloud and it’s just been a year since Apple launched it. Rumors are that Apple might give iCloud photo sharing capabilities and the abilitiy to sync videos as well. We hope Apple gives iCloud a boost by integrating it deeper into OS X and iOS.

2. USB 3.0 external Drives

If Apple removes optical drives from Macbook Pros, they will have to sell external optical drives which are either USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt based.

Least Probability

1. iPhone 5

The rumor mill is in full swing with this one. Although after reading all those rumors and news about iPhone 5, we think that the chances of launching another iPhone at WWDC 2012 are quite slim. But, we do expect to hear a launch date for the iPhone 5 (maybe in early October). However, if Apple decides to do launch the iPhone 5 on Monday, a 4 inch display and faster processor can be a part of it. Whatever the case is, the developers are definitely going to get a heads up for preparing themselves.

2. Apple TV

Speculations are rife that Apple might give TV the power to run apps and it started when talks about Apple HDTV started making rounds (which Apple may launch later this year). But, we do hope to hear some news about TV running Apps at the WWDC 2012 event.

3. iPad Mini

Only a couple of people reported about it and is nothing credible that can be considered. Even we think Apple is not serious about this one. Apple already rules the market with iPad, there is no apparent reason to launch an iPad Mini.

We are sure that we did not cover everything, but we did say we covered the most popular rumors. If you think there is something else that should be included in it, please share with us in the comments.
