What Changes after Marriage?

altThe idea of life after marriage is a very intimidating idea for some men.

While some boast of everlasting passion, some cower behind responsibilities. This article shall provide an insight into the life after marriage.

1. Singlehood is Lost

The days of your languorous bachelorhood will be long-gone. With marriage you shall have to take on the responsibilities of your spouse. This will cause you to alter your perceptions of life and give up your cavalier tendencies. While most men weep at the prospect of losing their freedom, they fail to see this as the chance to grow as a person.

2. ‘Real’ Life Begins

Marriage is not a bed of roses. Anticipating nothing but sheer bliss will be a huge mistake. Marriage provides the opportunity to get to know your spouse. While most couples claim to know their prospective spouses based on their courtship years, they agree to it being an entirely different ball game, post-wedlock. Living under the same roof tends to bring out the best and worst in most relationships.

3. Passion Suffers

Granted that the first year of marriage brings out the best in both spouses, but with passing years the spark of passion becomes dull. Couples get headlong into their respective careers and responsibilities, and tend to lose sight of each other in the process. While the adventurous couples take it upon themselves to revive the marital bliss, others let monotony tide over.

4. Responsibilities Pile Up

With the cavalier attitude long gone, men have to shake their approach at handling marital responsibilities. They are no longer seen as lovers alone, but are expected to become the provider of the family. With social, familial and economic obligations underway, the husband cannot choose to shirk his contribution to the household. He is expected to make provisions for an eventual family and cannot engage in reckless spending.

5. Spouses Quarrel

When two people from different walks of life are united in a bond of matrimony, chances are that they will bicker a lot. With differences in opinion, a lot of couples experience violent arguments, years into their marriage. While some kiss and make up, others opt for separation. While quarrels are a healthy way of expressing personal opinions, the important thing to remember is to put forth a logical argument. This will help solve problems faster and enhance mutual understanding.

Marriage is unlikely to be an easy endeavour, but with honesty and mutual understanding, one can tide over their differences and lead a happy life together.
