We know life shouldn’t be always just black or white, but sometimes you have to curb your color lust. But contrary to what you might think, you have many options at hand. Donning neutral colors such as grey, white or light brown can make you look like a king of cool times. (We aren’t counting the number of women drooling already!) Here’s how to dress and impress without looking like straight out of a Hawaiian holiday:
1. 50 shades of grey
It never ceases to make you look debonair. Particularly when you feel that white suits are no longer in and every second man is spotted in a black suit, a grey suit renders the versatility as well as the cool quotient you had ever asked for. And boy, how it heightens your swagger!
2. Caught in contrast
Sporting contrasting colors works in mysteriously good ways. Throw in a funky tie with a plain blue shirt to up your style statement. This look can be your artistic hubris. Or try a pair of fitted black trousers with a textured grey shirt to break the monotony.
3. Test the textures
To appear stylish, you need to be risqué at times. You are already doing that bit by going for neutral colors. So spice things up by wearing different shades of grey or white with various textures. Mixing different textures and patterns is a fabulous way to create more variety in your outfits.
4. Get lucky in layers
We are talking of blending attitudes here. Wear a crisp office shirt and throw on a badass biker jacket to add craze to class. This may sound a little unconventional, but try it once and perch yourself comfortably between the two sides of you. Go unchained, unbridled.
5. Bag some comfort
Vintage equals magnet, so why shouldn’t you attract some attention too? Baggy jeans, blazers and trousers can never go out of fashion. But don’t make the mistake of looking like a scarecrow. If your lowers are baggy, make sure to wear a fitted shirt or a t-shirt, and vice-versa. Classic, regular fit denims scream comfort, while tight jeans show you’ve just stolen them from your girlfriend.
6. Be a man of steel (or not)
Accessories can make or break you. Go for the metal wrist watches in silver. Buy decent cuff links and a tie bar that seamlessly co-exists with your look. If you think you’ve overdone neutral patches, it won’t be a bad idea to add a splash of color in your accessories, but do it in style.
Here’s your chance to make the stylistic shift from colors to neutral, without looking like a peacock. Assemble your coolest outfit from your wardrobe with the guidelines given above and you will be the classic, eternal and enviable man. So instead of being too hot or too cool to handle, we suggest you stick to neutral.
